abstract = "Considering the causal agents of grapevine decline and death in
vineyards, we can highlight the Grapevine Trunk Diseases, such as
the Esca fungal complex and the Grapevine leafroll-associated
virus (GLRaV). The identification and quantification of changes in
leaf spectral signature by remote sensing can improve the
vinegrape diseases diagnosis. The aim of this study was to
characterize the spectral features of vines leaves by
spectroradiometry, to detect changes due to the occurrence of Esca
fungal complex and the Grapevine leafroll-associated virus. For
this, grapevine leaves were collected in May, 2015 and May, 2016
in a ''Merlot'' vineyard located in Veran{\'o}polis, Rio Grande
do Sul, Brazil. The reflectance measurements were performed using
a spectroradiometer in 350 to 2500 nm wavelenghts. The treatments
consisted of asymptomatic leaves (1), (2) leaves with symptoms of
GLRaV and leaves with initial (3) and final (4) symptoms of the
Esca fungal complex. The results indicated that the spectral
reflectance of vine leaves with GLRaV and Esca symptoms were
distinct from the asymptomatic leaves spectral reflectance. There
were increase of reflectance at wavelengths near 700 nm, that
indicated reduction in leaf chlorophyll concentration and
photosynthetic activity due to the pathogens. Leaves with GLRaV
symptoms showed spectral changes at wavelengths near to 550 nm,
that can be used to discriminate this disease.",
